Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infect limiting the ability to breathe. 

​

In people with CF, a defective gene creates thick, sticky build up of mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. In the lungs the mucus gets trapped and the build up leads to infections, lung damage and eventually respiratory failure. Within the pancreas the mucus prevents the food from being absorbed the thick mucus prevents  digestive enzymes from being released and the body can not get the proper nutrients
